Are your recessed lights costing you money?

Strong Point Limited

With winter approaching it's a good time to think about home heating and energy efficiency. Over the course of a year you can waste a lot of money on a poorly insulated home.

Is your house is full of old-school, recessed canister lights? (see attached photo) If so then you could be losing huge amounts of energy into the roof space. This is because these lights rely on airflow to prevent the fitting from overheating. Heated air from your fire or heat pump rises straight up through the fittings to heat your roof space. You have to burn more wood or use more electricity to keep the room comfortable. They also require a clear space around and above them so the insulation won't catch fire. That means gaps in your ceiling insulation.

There is a simple solution to this problem. LED downlights come in a range of styles and sizes. Select one that fits the hole made for the existing canister light and if your wiring is in good order, then the replacement might be made in as little as 10min per light fitting. Choose an IC or IC-F rated downlight then you can install the insulation directly over the light fitting. With the light plugging the hole completely and no gaps in the insulation you will reduce your home heating costs.

If you buy the downlights through me then they will be fully guaranteed. If you prefer to purchase your downlights from a reputable retailer that's absolutely fine. I can install them however your lights' guarantee will be with that business. I will guarantee my workmanship regardless.
