A future very much at stake.
Regarding "Future at Stake" Kathryn Jury's letter to the Hauraki Herald Fri 16 Feb. It is so nice to see input from someone that has a well informed understanding of the issues that are already impacting upon our communities. Even those far from the reach of our seas will probably be required to assist with the costs of increased coastal defences with higher rates. After recent events and with cyclone gita currently bearing down on New Zealand it seems mother nature will drown (pun not intended) the protests of the ignorant flat earth types among us. Incidentally I am finding getting letters posted in Hauraki Herald "conversations" takes 4 weeks or more because I am still waiting.
Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
