URGENT: Don't swim in Lake Taupō if algae is present.
Toxic algae have been found lingering near the surface at five sites, including Five Mile Bay, Lake Terrace beach, Kinloch Beach, Whakaipo Bay and Acacia Bay.
Skin rashes, stomach upsets and respiratory symptoms such as triggering of asthmatic attacks can result from contact with the algae. Ingesting the algae can cause numbness and weakness.
Ironman has cancelled the swim leg of their 70.3 race on Saturday to protect athletes' health.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
