Near miss on Wairarapa Line. What do you think?
An empty passenger train narrowly avoided ploughing into a hi rail excavator on the Wairarapa Line in 2014 because the track was mistakenly given the all clear after it had been closed for repairs. According to a just released TAIC report the train pulled up short of the work crew on a bridge between Carterton and Greytown when the train driver saw the lights of the excavator on the track.
