Health and safety
Hi there
I'm currently improving our H&S policy as a residential building firm. My background is with commercial and industrial sites so I'm finding it difficult to dial it back to a residential level as I'm finding there is a lot of "blind eye " and "she'll be right, just get it done" attitudes.
I'd like to ask what your experiences are and thoughts on this.
Also which company would you choose between (A) a company with 5 tradies that has a below average H&S standard and average build quality but reasonable prices or (B) a company with 5 tradies that has an above standard H&S and clean professional and high quality skill set but is 15-20 percent more expensive?
Thanks Stace.

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
