Mangrove Removal Bill - Futile and Flawed
Takes Chainsaw To Legal Rights
The Thames-Coromandel and Hauraki District Councils want a local Bill passed in Parliament for the sole purpose of enabling mangrove removal. The Bill absurdly attempts to nullify the Resource Management Act and all other laws controlling mangroves. Pardon? Really? This is not a serious and credible effort to resolve the issues. Instead, it has the hallmarks of a populist but futile attempt to appear to be “doing something”?

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
