'Vicar of Dibley' coming to Tapanui
A star of the small screen will be in Tapanui in June.
Well, kind of.
The West Otago Theatrical Society is producing the stage adaptationion of the popular British television show The Vicar Of Dibley and is calling for those who are interested to attend a synopsis reading this week.
The BBC's The Vicar of Dibley is set in a fictional small Oxfordshire village called Dibley, which is assigned a female vicar following the 1992 changes in the Church of England that permitted the ordination of women.
Dawn French plays The Reverend Geraldine Granger in the television series, which tells of her life with the parishioners in the village.
WOTS spokesperson Vicki Crawford said the Tapanui show would be directed by George Arthur-Amohou, who wrote and directed 'The London Operation' for St Peter's College in Gore last year.
He directed Dame Agatha's Greatest Case for the school in 2015 and was musical director for WOT's show, Honk, in 2013.
"George has coordinated the script and has used the best bits from some of the television shows and has stitched them together into a script.
"He is young, enthusiastic and very clever and has a passion for English humour."
The synopsis will be read at the Green Room at the West Otago Community Centre on February 28 at 7pm.
Auditions will be held after that meeting, or Thursday March 9.
