Japan Society of Hawke's Bay

The Japan Society of Hawke’s Bay was founded in 1961.

Our goals are to promote activities and provide services to our members and to strengthen the bonds of friendship between Japan and New Zealand.

We support a Japanese Conversation Class which is run by members of the Japan Society and anyone is welcome to attend.

We also help with hosting events that showcase or celebrate New Zealand’s relationship with Japan.

Napier has had a sister city relationship with Tomakomai since 1980. Two students are sent annually from Tomakomai and the society helps with this exchange by introducing the students to Hawkes Bay, and New Zealand life.
