Waikato Community School of Music (WCSM-formerly Hamilton Community Centre of Music–HCCM) is a charitable trust that has provided affordable music tuition in the Waikato area for over thirty years. We offer group-format classes in a wide selection of instruments, and one-to-one tuition in certain instruments for students who wish to prepare for external exams or obtain NCEA credits. All classes are held on Saturdays on Waikato University’s Hillcrest campus. WCSM students range in age from 3 to retired, and include absolute beginners, continuers, and rusty players who want to re-discover lost skills. Included in the tuition fee for any of our instruments is the option to participate in any and as many of our six ensemble groups as the student wishes. Tuition options include the very popular Music Makers music preparation programme for children aged 3–8, Young Voices children’s choir for those aged 9-13+, and a full range of instrumental classes, including pre-school Violin, Chinese Erhu, and Classical, Bass, Rhythm and Electric Guitar
