Volunteer Stroke Scheme
Te Whare Karaka9 Karaka StTakapuna

Our volunteers work as conversation partners with people in the community who have difficulty communicating as a result of stroke. For one hour a week our volunteers visit with a patient and focus on conversing, using strategies that we teach. The results are increased confidence, on-going practice and potential gains in the patient. We are based in Takapuna, but work throughout greater Auckland. We endeavour to match volunteers with patients who live relatively close to them, and who share similar interests so there are common things to talk about. We are looking for people of all ages, who are good at listening, and who are able to learn and use new skills. If you are interested please contact us to find out more!
