Taranaki Regional Council works with residents, to care for Taranaki. It protects and manages the environment, ensures the sustainable use of natural resources, runs Civil Defence for Taranaki, manages Tupare, Pukeiti and Hollard Gardens on behalf of the people of the region, is the 100% shareholder of Port Taranaki, and leads the regional push to ensure Taranaki gets the highway network and other transport infrastructure it needs. Our 11 councillors are elected from four constituencies - North Taranaki (two), New Plymouth (five), Stratford (one) and South Taranaki (three).
