This is the way New Zealand is meant to be - an untamed, ancient forest containing wild native birds like kererū. Come to Pūkaha to see conservation in action where every dollar contributes to our captive breeding programmes. Our aviaries contain kākā, kākāriki, whio and pāteke, and if you're lucky you may spot Kahurangi the tame kokakō or Manukura the world's only white kiwi in captivity.
We also have a 2 hour loop track that takes you deep into kokakō territory. When you're done, relax beside the fire in the Kākā Cafe which overlooks the takahē.
