Paws for a Cause was founded initially to cater to two main goals: To address the issue of the prolific dumping of unroadworthy tyres to the landfill in our community, and to raise awareness thereof. To support lower-socioeconomic pet owners who were struggling to provide for their pets under the covid lockdowns. We started Paws for a Cause in mid-2020 in response to the Covid outbreaks after recognizing that lower socioeconomic families were struggling to provide for themselves and their beloved pets, a few friends and I decided to create a not-for-profit company under the Young Enterprise Scheme called ‘Paws for a Cause’. We set out with the goal of donating pet beds and kennels to those in need within our local community after seeing an opportunity to take the mounds of unroadworthy tyres from our local mechanics and “upcycle” them into fashionable pet beds, thus giving birth to the first few iterations of our “ToughRuff Tyre Pet Beds.”
