Louise was elected Member of Parliament for Taupo in 2008.  The Taupo electorate includes Cambridge, Tirau, Putaruru, Tokoroa, Mangakino, Taupo, and Turangi.  After the 2011 election Louise was named the  National Junior Whip was promoted to Senior Whip in January 2013. She was previously a member of the Maori Affairs Committee.

Louise's former governance roles include the Waikato Community Broadcasters Charitable Trust, and she has been a Director of companies involved in property, tourism, project management, and consulting.

Her professional memberships include Business and Professional Women Cambridge and Taupo, Chambers of Commerce, and Her Business Network.  Louise has also been a member of the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand, the New Zealand Business Excellence Foundation, the New Zealand Institute of Management, and the Project Management Institute.

Louise's academic and professional qualifications include the Associate of the New Zealand Institute of Management, Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies, Master of Business Administration, and Project Management Professional certification.

Louise lives in Karapiro, south of Cambridge, with her three children aged 10, 12 and 16.

Louise enjoys participating in sporting events and has competed in the Round the Lake Relay several times, the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge, and recently completed the 63.3 km challenge – 3 Taupo-based half marathons in 3 months.

Louise is also a passionate supporter of organisations associated with cancer.  She hosted the first event for New Zealand Gynaecological Cancers in Parliament, and has been a part of the Pink Ribbon team for Breast Cancer for many years. Louise is also the Parliamentary representative for Diabetes New Zealand.
