Greytown Community Patrol

The Greytown Community Patrol is currently forming and will start operating early 2019 within the Greytown ward. A Community Patrol is a group of volunteers who act as ‘eyes and ears’ to support the New Zealand Police and work with other agencies to help make their community safer and more resilient. Community Patrols are independent from the Police but receive regular Police guidance, training and tasking. The Greytown Community Patrol is affiliated with Community Patrols of New Zealand (CPNZ) - a national organisation formed in 2001 and today supports over 5,000 volunteers in over 150 affiliated community patrols throughout NZ. It is one of the largest community volunteer groups in NZ. Local Community Patrols are organised and operated by their local communities and raise their annual operating expenses through local grants, sponsorships and donations.
