At the CAB we try to help people to know and understand their rights and obligations and how to use this information to get the best outcomes, provide people with the confidence and support they need to take action, and work for positive social change within communities and wider society. We provide a free and independent service to all. Come along with any problem you have, and our trained interviewers will help you as far as practicably possible.

Although the "C" in CAB stands for “citizens”, you don't have to be a citizen to get our help and advice. You can ask us about anything.

We provide FREE independent information and advice to everyone on any subject, but some common ones are:

  • Relationships and family matters
  • Housing (including social housing), and tenancy or flatting
  • Employment
  • Consumer issues
  • Health Education Benefits and allowances
  • Immigration
  • Neighbourhood issues
  • Community groups
  • Government departments

We can also help you with:

  • Providing access to our facilities: phone, email, photocopy and wifi.
  • Filling in forms or writing a letter
  • Translations (please phone to check availability)
  • Listening to you, or just having a chat.
  • Is that legal? Not sure? Ask us.
  • On Wednesday evenings our Bureau hosts a legal clinic– a free ten minute meeting with a practicing lawyer. This clinic is by appointment only - please phone us to find out more.
