Christchurch Royals Softball Club was formed in the 1988/1989 season with the amalgamation of the Avonhead Softball Club and the Hornby Softball Club. Although the club has been operating for over 26 years, it does not have its own clubroom base. In 2014/2015 season, the club based itself at the Hornby Rugby Football Club at Denton Park. It's main playing grounds is Warren Park, Oakley Crescent, and trainings take place at Warren Park or Denton Park.
