We started collecting beanies for babies in South Africa & NZ but now send to anywhere in the world where there is a need (and there is a traveler willing to take them). We support maternity hospitals and orphanages in South Africa so that every newborn baby will have a chance to survive winter. Babies lose much of their heat through their heads so these beanies are often a life saving gift from you. You may have heard of the "fish and chip" babies who leave hospitals wrapped in newspaper for warmth. Well one weekend in a Landmark Advanced Course has certainly made a difference to a lot of babies as I don't think I would have looked that far afield before. My mum in South Africa had told me about the beanies she was knitting for Mowbray and my first thought was, that's very good, but I couldn't possibly help her cause from all the way over in NZ. I hadn't counted on the generosity of Kiwis and the willingness to cart them over in their luggage when traveling! Monty's is a collection point for beanies for babies in Africa and we send them back to Cape Town with various travellers during the year. Collections points for the beanies are: Monty's Promotions Ltd 3 Ashcraig Court Torbay Auckland New Zealand OR if you're traveling to Southern Africa, please feel free to take them to any hospital or church who will know where they are needed most. OR (if you'd like the beanies to go to NZ) South Auckland Health Foundation Att: Diane McEntee, Room 236, Level 2 Support Building 30 Middlemore Hospital Auckland New Zealand
