The Alexander Turnbull Library is a research library and part of the National Library of New Zealand. The Library develops, maintains and makes accessible a comprehensive collection of documents relating to New Zealand and its people. The Alexander Turnbull Library holds both published and unpublished collections. Published collections of the Alexander Turnbull Library include books, magazines and journals, pamphlets, newspapers, maps, music, websites, and other items that are published. The Alexander Turnbull Library's unpublished collections include original manuscripts, oral histories, photographs, paintings, drawings, prints, and cartoons, organised by format. The Library is open to everyone for research and browsing. We hold regular events that introduce people to the collections and services of the Turnbull Library and the National Library of New Zealand. The National Library building is also the home of He Tohu - a permanent exhibition of three iconic constitutional documents that shape Aotearoa New Zealand - 1835 He Whakaputanga, 1840 Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and 1893 Women's Suffrage Petition.
