My 2025 Prospa Local Business Hero nomination
I have to nominate the awesome team doing the hard yards at Hire Smart / Smart Aggregates Quarry. The massive effort made over the last couple of months (Hire Smart/Smart Aggregates team) has been absolutely astounding. They give back to the community where possible, with support (e.g. sponsorship to the Taranaki Wolverines Sports Club and I believe they have also given out a fair bit of metal chip where it's needed, here and there...) However, they always give back quietly - you know what they say: “Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching." That's how I feel about the amazing team with this Local Business Hero. They have loads of integrity, massive dedication to their work, and have blown 2025 out of the water so far - I'm really proud of this team!

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
