the local pub at Whatawhata (Whatawhata pub) make really great fish and chips. They are very generous with their servings inhouse or take away. They're always there when the power is out on this side (Raglan side) of the Waipa River. They have been lifesavers over the years....especially when they could be during these Co-Vid times. We've just had 2 full days out of power thanks to 'Cyclone Dovi' and they have come through once again. Local saviours!

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
