Kendo (剣道, "the Way of the Sword") is a modern Japanese martial art, which descended from swordsmanship and uses bamboo swords (shinai) and protective armour (bōgu). Today, it is widely practiced within Japan and many other nations across the world.

Waikato Kendo Club is the fifth New Zealand Kendo Federation affiliated Kendo Club set up in 1999 as a non-profit organisation with a mission to promote Kendo and Friendship Through Kendo in Hamilton and the great Waikato area.
