Touchwood Furniture

HISTORY

The first Touchwood cots were designed and manufactured in 1988 when 2 furniture makers and soon to be fathers found that there were no well designed, well built nursery cots available on the New Zealand market.

Their unique design which was a multipurpose bassinet, cot, first bed and 2-seater sofa soon became very popular with all their friends who were also expecting new families.

With the introduction of safety standards for Australia and New Zealand, Touchwood cots became one of the first companies to have their cots fully tested for compliance and this was followed by being awarded New Zealand’s prestigious “S”-Mark Certification. The Australian Standard “Tick”-Mark followed.

The first Touchwood cots were commercially manufactured in 1992. This was followed by Touchwood opening their own Wellington based factory in 1997. Touchwood has since grown to be New Zealand’s largest nursery furniture manufacturer.

Touchwood in recent years has also designed a unique range of nursery cot mattresses and also a range of mattresses for children’s beds.

Our company has grown significantly. We now offer not only nursery cots and changing tables, but a whole range of children’s beds and accompanying furniture including numerous drawer units, shelving designs and storage chests.

Touchwood are consistently receiving the most positive comments from our customers in New Zealand and overseas who have been using our products over many years.

There have been several articles written in leading consumer magazines highlighting our design and quality of the Touchwood product.

OUR SAFETY STANDARDS

All Touchwood Safety cots comply with AS/NZS 4229:2013. They also comply with the latest British/European Standards 716/1/2: 2008.
