Skookum Construction

Trading for more than 25 years as C.R.Horne Builders, Skookum Construction brings the same award winning quality and meticulous level of detail as expected by our managing director, Cameron Horne. From a one-man-band, Skookum Construction has evolved into a dynamic small company with always at least one apprentice and a team of long service sub contractors.

SKOOKUM (pronounced ˈskuːkəm) is an informally used adjective with a variety of positive connotations such as strong, impressive and durable. When a person is referred to as 'skookum' it means they're hard working and reliable.

CAMERON HORNE, LBP, began his building career in 1990 on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula and surrounding Rodney district. After moving to Auckland City, he has focused on growing the business by working alongside similarly reputable builders, reliable sub-tradesmen and passionate young apprentices. In his spare time, Cam can be found racing yachts on the Waitemata, chasing after his three sons or watching sport after a day on the tools.
