Retirement Villages
Selwyn Village in Point Chevalier was first opened in 1954 as a social housing community for older people. It is owned and operated by The Selwyn Foundation, a registered charity which champions initiatives that enable respectful ageing for vulnerable older people. The village provides a wide range of stylish independent retirement living options in addition to two care homes one of which includes a residential dementia care household. It also offers an on-site dementia day centre for older people who are living with mild-to-moderate dementia in the wider community. Selwyn Village was one of New Zealands first retirement villages and remains a popular choice for older people looking for quality environments within a supportive and caring community.
