Child Care & Education
The Nelson Nature School is open for primary aged children 5-12 in Whakat-Nelson area. To explore and grow in the outdoors as the full human beings that they are -with powerful relationships, -building their personal identity with confidence,-and creating a bond with mother nature that will grow with them.
We spend our time in the forest in a small group, in mostly child-led activities. We run One Day 9am-3pm programmes on Wednesdays and Thursdays in Stoke and Nelson, afterschool programmes and nature workshops during holidays.
We often hear tamariki saying this was the best day ever and it comes down to very simple things a swim in the stream, knowing they wont get told off for building a bow&arrow, feeling they have space to follow their interests and be appreciated for who they are. The learning and growth comes through conversations with peers and staff, often with a what do we do about... or why... or I want to design.... Its simple, ancient, and caring.
