Govett-Brewster Art Gallery

Visit New Zealand's contemporary art museum in the heart of New Plymouth.

Since opening in 1970, the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery continues to offer a space of inspiration, a place to express yourself, think outside the square and see the world from new perspectives. Exhibitions of artists' work from around New Zealand and the Pacific change out every three to four months and include artworks and materials from the Len Lye Foundation Collection and Archive.

Join us for art-making, workshops, talks about and amongst the art, performances and films. In the 60 seat boutique cinema you can experience Len Lye's pioneering experimental films, documentaries, art-house films, cult classics and film festivals of the best from around the world.

And be sure to add time to your visit to treat yourself in the Govett-Brewster Shop and next door at Monica's Eatery, the 7-days-a-week cafe inspired by the Gallery's founder Monica Brewster (nee Govett).
