Castellum Caeruleus B&B

Neil & Yolande Lawrence look forward to welcoming visitors to their newly built Castle on the hill in Cust from late December 2017 onwards. Castellum Caeruleus, Latin for Blue Castle, is a modern interpretation of a 12th century medieval castle, and a play on the idea of an 'unwrapped motte and bailey,' set on 36 acres of rolling hillside leading down to the Ashley River (assessed via a private track). The B&B will have 2 guest rooms available - each with their own ensuite (one with a large walk-in shower and one with a shower and large bath) and terrace to enjoy the stunning valley, pine forest and mountain views. A crenulated 52m long 5m high wall, arrowslits, exposed timber trusses & beams, polished concrete floor, wooden panelling and tapestries add to the atmosphere. Guests will be kept warm and toasty year-round with hydronic central heating (underfloor and radiators fueled by our own timber supply), all while enjoying the benefits of modern technology.
