No one tortures us more mentally and emotionally than we do ourselves. A extremely important part of resilience is developing a sense of compassion for yourself and what you have been through. When we learn to become compassionated to our own needs, it’s only natural that we then become compassionate and empathetic to others, which is always a good thing.
