A simple exercise into NOW <3

Struggling with feeling anxious, stressed, depressed and/or tired?
Feelings like those may come from either being in the future too much with your thoughts or in the past too much...
Both do not exist and are out of your control.
The only thing you can control is right now...
Us humans we do well with repetition, we learn by repeating things.
When you repeat something at least 7 times, preferably using different modalities such as feeling it, seeing it, smelling it, hearing it...your brain creates shortcuts to this "thing" and you will be able to access it quicker and easier. Repeating this "thing" regularly every day at least once then your brain starts to upgrade this
"thing'" to the subconscious level. That means you no longer have to be aware of it. You don't need to think about it, you just do it and then might notice that you are doing it. Imagine this thing was something negative and exhausting, harmful and toxic like self talk can be or worries from being (in the future) out of control or feeling depressed because you have tried and tried but it 's not working (being in the past repeating something that does not help the problem).
Imagine you did repeat something very helpful and nurturing.
...and you kept doing it until one day it was just second nature, subconscious , like being able to walk, ride a bike, drive a car...
Here is one thing you can start to do:
An exercise in being in the NOW.
I call it "Anchor into NOW"
Every morning , every lunchtime, every evening for at least one minute. STOP ! Sit down... close your eyes...focus on the feeling of your feet on the ground...lift your toes ...wriggle your toes...feel the difference in your feet...feel the chair pushing up against you, holding you...feel how you are breathing...just observe your breath...in through your nose out through your nose...begin to extend the exhale for two counts...(if you like you can begin to count your in and exhale time) Direct your inhale into your belly let your belly bulge and empty with the exhale, completely belly in.
(2 counts longer than the inhale) . This kind of breathing triggers a relaxation response in the body. Take 10 cycles of focused in and exhales. That's it! Well done. Now repeat 3 x a day, every day... reassess how you feel after doing this for a whole week, then after 2 weeks and so on. The magic is in the doing...

I was just wondering what most of you would answer to give me some more ideas on what to have to choose from.
My personal fav is a blend : Lavender, Sweet Orange and German Chamomile, Clary Sage and Geranium. It helps me to center and connect to peacefulness within. <3

...and that is why affirmations are so powerful:

There is an old saying in the Hindu scriptures which says:
"Think and it shall be".
The way you think is the way you are and way you perceive your reality. If you are prone to always look at the negative side, it is likely to affect every aspect of your life. If you keep on thinking that this is not achievable or I am not capable enough to do that, you are most likely to fail in your attempts. On the contrary, a positive attitude encourages you and increases the possibility of success. Whether you succeed or fail is another matter altogether, but a positive attitude enables you to give the challenge your best shot and you get the satisfaction of having put your best foot forward. Not to mention the benefit of feeling happy and being in a good mood as a by product of thinking in a nurturing, empowering and positive way.

Affirmations are repetition of positive statements that are repeated mentally or aloud.

I often use this one for my clients as well as for myself:
"Every day in every way I get better and better and better"
or " I love and I am loved"

When you use an affirmation to make it even stronger imagine in your mind :
How you feel when you are that...
What you can see (are you alone or with someone/ where/ colors/ shapes/ what do you look like?)
What can you hear? ( other commenting on your positive change/ music/ sounds that are in connection with you being that...
What can you smell? Is there a scent associated with your success at being that...

Affirmations are positive assertions that you make to yourself repeatedly till they have a permanent effect on your subconscious mind.
Like the waves at the shoreline making an imprint so do your thoughts shape and imprint your reality/ your life.
The subconscious mind listens in to what is going on in the conscious mind. The more often we repeat something to ourselves the deeper it goes into the subconscious mind which runs the show for us 95% of the time. When we perform affirmations, we repeat healthy phrases in our conscious mind and we TEACH OUR subconscious mind NEW, POSITIVE, AND HEALTHY HABITS OF THOUGHT, FEELING, AND ACTION. We can remove unhealthy habits and insert healthy and powerful habits. We can heal and improve every area of our life.

Mere repetitions of empty meaningless sentences are not affirmations. Affirmations have to be powerful sentences that inspire and motivate. They must be strong enough so as to have a long lasting impact on your psyche. Once negative and restrictive thoughts are transformed into positive and constructive ones they have the capacity to improve your life.

Its getting colder and definitely autumn weather windy with the taste of winter in the air. A time also called "fall". Literally everything falls in this time. The leaves, the temperature, the angle of the sun. Following the joys of summer and the riches of harvest time, with autumn begins the decent, the turning inwards. As the angle of the sun drops closer to the horizon line it lights up dust particles in the air creating a sense of "cathedral" lights in the air. Something spectacular and dramatic in autumn's natural creation. I took a photo this morning at 7pm which inspired me to post this.
As some trees loose they leaves exposing bare branches and fields are bare creating a sense of space. Space to breath. We might feel the urge to let go of things, tidy up, create space and quietude. We might like to focus inwards more.
Take time to look after your self. Nourish your body well. Eat what is locally harvested at this time. Take more time to prepare and cook meals at home. Soups ...I love soups. Lentil soup, pumpkin soup, veggie soup, Tom yum soup ahhhhhh! Perfect to warm up and feel good inside. Sit at the fire (put the phones away) and talk to each other. Great time for all kinds of teas.
A hot detox bath to fend those nasty winter colds with ingredients that one can find in any kitchen:
1 cup Epsom salt
1 cup baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of ginger powder
(can make the water yellow or brown but it's a great detox bath to get rid of any winter illnesses)
Soak for 20 min to 30 min and take time before you get dressed in clothes as you will sweat about 30 min longer after your bath. Snuggle up in your cosy bathrobe, drink plenty of water or herbal tea.
By the way...at 'Balance for life" we have a heated massage table to keep you cosy and comfy during autumn and winter or any time you wish. :-)

How my holistic massage was born:

After I finished my "Heilpraktikerin" training in Germany 2006, I was looking for more tools to work with in addition to Iridology, Reiki, Bach Flower essences, Foot- reflexology and Osteo-symbiosis and soon got interested into Kinesiology;. In the meantime we immigrated to New Zealand and I pursued my training here. Finishing the 1 year full time Kinesiology training
with ICPKP, I felt a bit confused and overwhelmed by the magnitude of options and responsibilities to actually practice what I had studied for more than 4 years, by then... I felt I was still not good enough...
and I used every excuse in the book to not start practicing.

My mother was visiting at that time (2010) from Germany and she was not feeling so well. I offered her a bit of TLC. What happened then was the version of the holistic massage I still use to this day.. It just poured out off me. The beauty is that it is different for every person but does have a frame, a structure. It is a treatment combination that is truly holistic.
"Balance for Life's" holistic massage was born from the heart, with love, respect and empathy in mind.
