My darling wife passed away after a brave battle with cancer, will forever be missed by her husband Brett and our lovely dog Emmie. Passed away suddenly and peacefully at 8.00pm on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at Christchurch Hospital; aged 92 years. He was surrounded by his loving family. Forever loved by his wife of 67 years, Shirley (nee McEwin), his children Kathryn and Terry Hopkins, Jan and John Ruardy, Todd and Jenny Foley. Dearly loved eldest brother of Josie and the late Kieran, Maureen and Doug, the late Maurice and Yvonne, the late Graham and Grace. Loved and idolised grandfather and great-grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Brother-in-law to Neil and Shirley, Donna and Phil who reside in Australia.
A Memorial service will be held for Arnold at St Mary’s Catholic Church, New Brighton, on Tuesday, December 6, at 11.30am. All who knew Arnold are welcome. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Avon Lifecare Hospital, the
staff at Christchurch Hospital ED department, and especially to those staff of the Medical Assessment Unit who took great care of Arnold and treated him with dignity and respect in his final hours.
