BENNETT, Hilton Petrie

Loving partner to Robin Britton, passed away peacefully in Hamilton on Saturday 12 November 2022, surrounded by loving friends and family. Born on 25 July 1955 in Hamilton, Hilton went to Hamilton Boys High and attended Waikato University before moving to the UK with Robin in 1980. Hilton worked in the energy sector before becoming a business consultant to numerous companies large and small. An accomplished chess player of international standing, Hilton has played in tournaments all over the world and New Zealand. His contribution to chess locally in Hamilton, nationally in New Zealand and many places around the world is a legacy that hundreds if not thousands of chess players will fondly remember Hilton by. A simple funeral service will be held on Thursday, 17 November at 11am at Woodside Estate, 130 – 132 Woodside Road, Hamilton. No flowers please. The service will be livestreamed. Additionally, a video of the funeral will be available from YouTube afterwards.
