McNEILL, Mary-Joan (Joan)

Our much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully, on October 29, in the loving care of the sisters and staff of the Sacred Heart Home and Hospital and with her four children present. Joan was the daughter of Edward and Alice Simpson (both dec), half-sister of Fred (dec) and devoted wife to Robert (Robin) (dec), Loving and loved mother and mother-in-law of Peter and Margaret (dec) McNeill, Bernadette and Ray (dec) Hannagan, Pauline McNeill and Eric Shelton, and Stephen and Frances McNeill. Proud and loving grandmother to her grandchildren and their partners - Vaughan, Keith and Jacqui, Gavin and Andrea, Fiona and Leigh, Andrew and Sian, Matthew and Julie, Dougal and Shomi, Bryony and Len, Meghan, Joseph, and Daniel, special great-grandmother to James, Bede, Louis, Cael, Taran, Finn, Isla, Maisie, Asuka, Kenta, Freya and Isaac. A family Requiem Mass has been held and Mum has been buried with Dad at the soldiers section of the Anderson’s Bay Cemetery. Mum has had a great life and we will miss her dearly. She spent almost seven very happy years as a resident at the Sacred Heart Home and Hospital and the family are grateful for the outstanding care she received. The love and support shown in Mum’s final hours was truly uplifting and we acknowledge our gratitude to the wonderful sisters and staff.
