Moves are under way to improve access to Barrington Mall.

Changes are being proposed for Barrington Street and the mall entrance to improve safety.

The changes include the extension of “no stopping” restrictions on the west side of Barrington Street, between Athelstan Street and Kinver Place, and the installation of a patterned footpath across the mall access to highlight a pedestrian route.

Drivers will no longer be able to turn right out of Barrington Mall into Barrington Street under the proposed plan. The pedestrian refuge outside the mall entrance will also be extended.

The proposed improvements are now open for public feedback. Submissions close on 22 August.

Information drop-in sessions will be held at Spreydon Library on Friday, 10 August between 10.30am and 12.30pm and Barrington Mall on Saturday, 11 August between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

A recommendation on the proposed changes is expected to go to the Spreydon-Cashmere Community Board by early October.
