I am petitioning to Otago Regional Council to stop the removal of bus stops.

removal of bus stop (without a close by alternative given) reduces equity to those with health, disability and accessibility requirements. The bus stop on the corner of Tomahawk Road & Tahuna Road has been posted with a sign from ORC stating that due to safety concerns. this is very problematic as the next nearest stops are quite far away and both require up hill walking for quite a distance. some people are not able to walk for this distance and up hill. There has been no community discussion or notification, other than the sign suddenly appearing.

There are elderly locals, young families, professional workers, school children who have relied on public transport, and this particular stop.

This council is trying to increase bus patronage, however the removal of stops is adding a significant challenge and will result in less usage as it will now be un-accessible for many.
