Your safety and your family’s peace of mind are our top priority, no matter what the weather. Every Ryman village has staff available 24/7 and backup generators for emergencies. If something happens, you’re in safe hands. We’ll take care of everything and make sure that you have what you need.

Preparation

We carry out regular drills and exercises as part of our comprehensive emergency plan. These plans are developed in conjunction with government and State Emergency Services guidance.

During an event

Our people are trained in safety procedures to handle all emergency situations. Backup generators at our villages will keep you safe and comfortable if a power outage occurs.

Support afterwards

Repairs to your home, building insurance claims, and clean-up will be taken care of by us. We will also ensure you have food and other essential supplies if required.

When the full force of Cyclone Gabrielle hit Gisborne in February this year, Sandra Burgering and her rescue cat Lottie sat there stunned and fearful of what was happening to the city’s residents and the community at large.

There was not a dry eye in the house at Kiri Te Kanawa after residents were handed special messages from concerned family after connection was restored in the wake of Cyclone Gabrielle.

When the cyclone had been and gone and the freezer was slowly defrosting due to the power outage, Sandra Caccioppoli ventured out to do the best thing she could in the circumstances – cook lamb chops and carry on.
