The Summer I Turned Pretty

Fans of To All the Boys, Heartstopper, and Never Have I Ever, will devour this heartwarming coming-of-age show that just teems with all the summer vibes, mixed with a tinge of nostalgia for some. The story follows 16-year-old Isabel – known as Belly – who visits Cousins Beach with her family every summer. She arrives at the lazy beach town with a sense of foreboding that this summer might be different. And her gut feeling is right as she falls into a love triangle between the brother’s – son’s of her mother’s best friend. The show touches on love, heartbreak, the trials of adolescence and youth, and a woman learning about who she is, all in a cataclysmic summer.

Based on the young adult book by Jenny Han (also author of the To All the Boys series), this two season show will quench your thirst for young love nostalgia and summer romance.

Reacher

Alan Ritchson claims the iconic character of Jack Reacher in this military action and adventure. Season 1 followed the events of Lee Child’s debut novel Killing Floor, where Reacher finds himself ensnared in a conspiracy following an arrest for a murder he did not commit. Season 2, releasing December 15th, adapts Child’s Bad Luck and Trouble, bringing more action and thrill to the screen. Reacher must partner with three former teammates to deliver both vengeance and a decent amount of sass.

Disney

Percy Jackson

Make your debut at Camp Half Blood, with this much anticipated fantasy series. Based on the book series Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan, the story follows 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who must come to terms with his newfound divine powers. But Zeus, the god of the sky, accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. Percy and his friends must restore order to Olympus and prevent a war amongst the gods.

Perfect for fans of fantasy, mythology, Greek history, action and adventure, this series is set to release December 20th, perfect for a cozy Christmas watch.

Dr Who

For the 60th anniversary of this much-loved science fiction show, three specials will premiere on Disney Plus: November 25th, December 2, and December 9th. These specials will see the reunion of the Fourteenth Doctor (David Tennant) and Donna Temple-Noble (Catherine Tate), who must face their most treacherous villain to date: the Toymaker (Neil Patrick Harris).

The three specials will foster anticipation for the 15th Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa, who will make his debut on the show in 2024, and also make history as the first black actor to portray the Doctor.

Loki

Marvel fans will have likely already gobbled this up during its weekly season 2 release from June to November, but this latest installment from the mega movie and television franchise is a must-watch this summer. This mind-bending 2 season series follows Loki, the God of Mischief, who must either fix the timeline, or he and the people he cares about will cease to exist. In this season, Loki traverses timelines to find his friends and mend the past to save the future, learning the true meaning of ‘glorious purpose’ along the way. All the while, reality has never been close to anything that anyone thought.

Neon

Station Eleven
