“I grew up in Ōtara, South Auckland. What’s very important for me is family, family connections, and my children, and giving them a good, I want more opportunities for them living in our community.
I’m looking to rent a home, which is very hard to do in Auckland, especially in South Auckland, all over Auckland really. The rents are too high. I can’t afford one at the moment, so I’m boarding with a friend. I need a house. That’s what I need right now, yeah is a house.
A home is important for me and my children, because that’s our safety. It’s a good bask to have for family, instead of sharing a home with everybody else. That’s why it’s important for me, to have our own family home.
Community means, people, growth, love, care for each other, and to help each other to succeed and move forward. No matter how bad things look at this time, or how sad things are, to remain positive in every way that they can. Enjoy life, and enjoy every day and appreciate what they already have.
My role is sustaining tenancies, whānau support worker and helping families stay in their homes, instead of getting evicted from their homes. So I help families remain in their homes, and social issues around their family. I believe it’s very important to have a stable family and home because it effects the whole family in a positive way, and it gets your family into a routine. There’s all sorts of things that’s good about having a stable home, instead of moving around or even becoming homeless. A stable home is a good home.”
