Hi everyone, about 2 hours ago around 9 pm I had my phone stolen from in Avondale. I was waiting at the bus stop at 11 Wolverton Street when the other guy at the stop snatched the phone away from me and took off. I couldn't keep up with him and quickly lost sight of him, but I believe he ran into Lansford Crescent. From what I could see of him he looked about mid-20's, 6 foot, and probably NZ European (also going off his accent as he was talking on the phone). He was wearing a grey hoodie and I tried to keep my distance, however he took advantage of me looking out for the bus and not grasping my phone properly. He was probably a local, and will most likely try to make some money off of it by pawning it, although I doubt it'll go for much.
The phone is a MEIZU M5 Note, bought last year April from PB Tech. It has a light gold colour and an unremovable back case. I've already called Vodafone to deactivate the sim card. It's not so much the phone I'm upset over but rather what I had on that phone, especially contacts that I might not be able to retrieve.
I'm posting here to not only warn people to be vigilant and keep their distance from people acting suspiciously, but also to ask for help. If anyone that sees this does encounter a phone that fits the description in a second hand shop or trade me or anywhere, please let me know. It's a shot in the dark but who knows. Like I said he was most likely a local, so if he were to sell it then it would be likely somewhere nearby. Or if anyone even knows someone who fits the description who suddenly has acquired a new phone like that, then would love to know about that.
Stay safe everyone, especially at nighttime. As much as we like to think the best of our communities, thefts and muggings do still happen, so keep an eye out for suspicious people for your own and loved ones' good :)
