Christchurch is New Zealand's second city, deal with it

Anna Williams Reporter from The Press

There's an enduring belief that Wellington is our second-largest city. We must dispel that myth, reporter Charlie Mitchell says.
Do you think Christchurch should officially be named as New Zealand's second city or should Wellington retain its title?

Urgent Sponsorship Needed For HOY

Joanne from Kainga - Brooklands

Hi everyone. My boyfriend qualified his horse (a standardbred) to compete at Horse of the Year (which is being held in Hastings from the 9th March) for the first time ever. He thought he had a major sponsor organised but it looks to have fallen through. He does still have two smaller sponsors however the costs to travel up and accommodate himself and horse are in excess of $2500.00. A number of bookings have been made and deposits paid which now need to be paid in full. Is there anyone out there willing to sponsor him in this endeavour? Any amount would be much appreciated. Thankyou in advance.

Bus patronage decreasing as Environment Canterbury moots 9.8 per cent rates rise

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from The Press

Canterbury authorities have dropped their goal of 20 million annual bus trips by 2020 as public transport use declines in Christchurch.

The service, run by regional council Environment Canterbury (ECan), is to be overhauled in a plan that will contribute to a planned 9.8 per cent rates increase – almost double what was previously forecast.

Read more here and tell us what you think of ECan's plan in the comments below.
