Good People

For Thursday, the 1st June at 6pm we are screening the film that won Brendan Fraser the Oscar for Best Actor, The Whale.

Our 8pm screening will be the Shanty-Singing Sequel, Fisherman’s Friends 2: One and All.

Both screenings will be in the Expo Hall on the ground floor as our usual venue, the Capitaine Bougainville Theatre, is unavailable.

The Whale
USA, 2022, Drama, 109 mins, Rated M (coarse language)
Cast: Brendan Fraser , Sadie Sink, Hong Chau, Samantha Morton.

The Whale follows the life of Charlie, a morbidly obese English teacher who realises his time is running out when he suffers heart failure.

As such, he begins to take stock of his life and spends time with his friend, Liz. And she inspires Charlie to reach out to his now teenage daughter, Ellie whom he has little contact with since she was young.

"It's a story about love and forgiveness that Brendan Fraser magnificently carries." - Empire

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
