Become a patrol volunteer

Darryl Smith from Tawa Community Patrol

We are currently recruiting for more volunteer patrollers for both our day and night patrols!

If you can spare at least three hours once a month for a patrol shift as well as attending a monthly training meeting with other patrollers, get in touch with us today to find out more!

Acting as the 'eyes and ears' of the New Zealand Police with full friendly training provided, you will always be paired with another patroller while on patrol.

If you'd like to find out more, please get in touch today! More info can be found on our website as well as our join form at www.tawacp.org.nz...

Put away the lawnmower

Nicholas Boyack Reporter from Community News

Have you thought of abandoning your lawn. Th Wellington City Council is encouraging people to think about the benefits of meadows.
The council team at Botanic Garden ki Paekākā are putting down their mowers and growing a meadow on Glenmore Lawn (pictured).
Not mowing means less maintenance but also has benefits for the environment. Not mowing saves on petrol and also promotes bio diversity. Bees, insects and caterpillars all love long grass.
What do you think about growing meadows and not cutting lawns?

Ariana from HONO MAI | Join In

EVENT IS FILLED - NO MORE SPACES AVAILABLE. You can keep at eye on our Eventbrite page to see if a spare space becomes available.

This is a FREE to attend event on 15 Dec at 10:30am. Though if you want to buy any of the plants at the nursery you'll need your EFTPOS card.

Did you know 80% of our trees, ferns and flowering plants are endemic (found only in New Zealand).

Fall in love with Aotearoa NZ plants! Our guide and plant guru Andrew's passion and insight will have you bursting with ideas. He'll introduce you to best practices both visually and practically when it comes to incorporating native plants into your garden.

If you like, bring along pictures of your garden as well. Andrew can figure out what will work for your soil type, sun position and lifestyle. We will be taken for a walking guided tour of all the fabulous native options available.

We will meet at Sievers Grove Nursery at 10:30am. Bring appropriate shoes and clothing to suit the weather. A great day to be shared with both beginner gardeners and experts alike.
