Hey Neighbourly folk, this week something a bit different - a lizard.
Photographer Louise Thomas snapped the image on a recent expedition to photograph some new bird species.
"I've had an amazing 24-hours. Yesterday, my faithful porter and I went out to Matiu/Somes Island. We saw sooty shearwaters, kākāriki, aka red-crowned parakeet, numerous skinks, and on the way back a spotted shag near the Days Bay wharf.
All three birds are new species for me. I'm afraid I have no idea what sort of skink this is, I think common skink, but it has a dark iris? Suggestions from those in the know much appreciated - I'm going cross-eyed trying to work it out on the internet.
Funny story, both Chris and I thought this was a railway spike holding up the wood on the edge of the step, then Chris said "wait, that spike has little hands."
We'd be keen to hear about your favourite summer holiday spots in NZ. Is there somewhere you keep returning to year after year and, if so, what are the main attractions? What makes it such a stand-out spot? Any tips you may be able to offer on the best things to see and do there - as well as the best places to grab a drink or bite to eat - would be much appreciated. Selling a house is always stressful and in Wellington the preferred option is tender.
Just 7.9 per cent of sales went under the auctioneer’s hammer in Wellington last month, compared with 40.6 per cent in Auckland. Meanwhile, tenders made up only one per cent of sales in the City of Sails, and two-thirds in the capital.

Johnsonville's ailing shopping centre could be the site of a development up to 18 storeys high.
The mall's owners have asked the city council to change the rules to allow for an 18 storey apartment block to be built on the shopping centre site.
The council is currently considering a rule change to allow for eight storey buildings.
What do you think? Is 18 storeys too high?
