Wānaka film studio among Central Otago projects fast-tracked under Covid-19 legislation

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from Otago News

A film studio estate planned for the outskirts of Wānaka is among several proposals in the region that have approval to be fast-tracked through the resource consent process.

The Ministry for the Environment says the project would include film location sets, post-production facilities and offices, a film school and a screening theatre.

It will be built at 707 Wānaka-Luggate Highway, about 7km east of Wānaka, and will provide up to 300 jobs during the construction phase and up to 1,200 jobs during operation, the ministry says.
