Plan to eliminate pong welcoming people to Queenstown
The "stink" from a landfill that greets visitors to Queenstown will be eradicated as part of a $7.8 million cleanup plan.
The Victoria Flats Landfill at Gibbston, 27 kilometres from Queenstown, has long been the subject of complaints by travellers on State Highway 6, commuters from Cromwell, and some Gibbston residents.
It is the main landfill for the Queenstown Lakes and Central Otago communities.
