I'm working on a travel story for Stuff about the things that have surprised returning Kiwis about New Zealand. If you have recently returned from overseas or know someone who has, it would be great to hear about the things that have stood out for you, for better or for worse. The Tokyo Olympics are about to kick off, and some of our country's best sports stars are set to represent New Zealand on the world stage.

The opening ceremony takes place on Friday (about 11pm NZ time), and the Games will run through until August 8.

Over the next two-and-a-half weeks, some of the world’s best athletes competing in a range of sports will battle it out in Tokyo in the hopes of walking away with a medal.

Farm cottage urgently needed to rent

Preferably greater Waikato area, 3 - 4 bedrooms and a shed/garage.
Excellent references, rent on automatic payment so no late rent or hassles.
1 Schipperke dog, 12 years old
1 Bengal cat, 8.5 years old
20 odd chooks and a rooster (who can be deleted from our flock of girls.
We have 90 days notice from 17th July.
Currently we have our son who works in Hamilton living with us, and we are retired dairy farm workers who would loath living in town.
