Heavy rain warning for Mount Taranaki

Be wary of severe weather which is approaching and may affect the region over the next 24 hours. Mount Taranaki is forecasted to expect 100 to 140mm of northerly rain, with thunderstorms possible. Peak rates of 15 to 25mm per hour this evening, and again Tuesday afternoon.

North Taranaki is expected to have periods of heavy northerly rain with thunderstorms possible, mainly this evening and Tuesday afternoon. Amounts may approach warning criteria.

Heavy rain may cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly. Surface flooding and slips are also possible and driving conditions may be hazardous.
