Roundabouts to be installed at dangerous Selwyn intersections

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from The Press

Upgrades to two deadly Selwyn intersections are back on after previously-cut Government funding was reinstated.

It is hoped there will now be roundabouts at the intersection of Blakes and Shands roads, and at the intersection of Springs and Marshs roads by mid-2021. The works are expected to cost $9.7 million, of which 75 per cent will be paid for by the NZ Transport Agency.

Selwyn deputy mayor Malcolm Lyall said he was very pleased the funding had been allocated. Detailed design work will begin now and the council hoped to start construction in the middle of next year.
