As of Saturday morning, 151 people had tested positive for Covid-19 in the Southern region, which is Waitaki south. The Queenstown-Lakes area leads the way with 59 cases.
"Queenstown is a magnet for international travellers and it is no surprise that it's among the first places to see significant numbers," an SDHB statement says.
