Australian police officers lose 67kg in run up to Queenstown marathon

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from Queenstown News

An Australian police officer will run her first marathon in Queenstown after losing 52 kilograms since taking up running three years ago.

Kathie Alonso, 48, will be running with husband Jose, 52, also a police officer in Queensland, who lost 15kg as he joined Kathie on her weight loss journey.

They started running 10-kilometre events and progressed to half marathons before deciding to tackle the full 42.2km distance in Queenstown on Saturday.
